The principal issue is trying to do anything that isn't the zombie infestation becomes hard to do, mainly since participant zombies like to hangout at quest givers and other spots where lots of gamers have a tendency to collect. Since this event also comes with an entire questline that occurs in the zones around Stormwind and Orgrimmar, there's ample opportunity to wow gold classic camp outside and potentially infect as many players as possible. However, one positive change from the last time the zombie infestation happened is that Blizzard seems to have made it more difficult to disperse it to the rest of Azeroth. One of the first things I did once I got infected was to hearth into Dalaran, but when I arrived, I was not infected anymore. However, I was able to carry it to Boralus via using the portal site in the mage tower, so it is not a perfect program however.

There is the scourge invasion as well as the questline, which requires players to Icecrown and sends players on a goose hunt for Nathanos. Then there's the zombie infestation, which adds a small PvP aspect to everything. It isn't surprising a few folks would want to take part in the very first event but not the second, as not everyone enjoys PvP or using their course and race abilities taken away and replaced by cheap wow classic gold additional abilities. Even doing something at which for most of the invasion, players needed to opt into the infestation by selecting Warmode, but then at the last week, before Shadowlands dropped, the infestation would influence everyone, would probably be the optimal solution.
